Your look at Married Life on MovieSet
Welcome to March, the month where we finally emerge from our winter hibernation and start to see green things grow. March is also the start of the spring film season and on the first day of spring it will also see the release of "Married Life", a new drama starring Pierce Brosnan and Rachel McAdams. Set in post-World War II America, the former James Bond leading man plays Rich, a buddy to Chris Cooper's Harry. The two pals are best of friends until Rich starts to question why Harry is courting a much younger widow named Kay (McAdams, seen here sporting platinum blonde locks). Harry is also married to Pat (Patricia Clarkson) but can't bring himself to end the relationship due to the scandalous social nature that divorce had in the 1940s. Wondering what Kay sees in a guy like Harry, Rich decides to also court Kay and see if he can woo her away with his charms. Soon secrets start to be revealed and the chess match between Harry and Rich for Kay's affections grows darker.
The movie was directed and adapted for the screen by Ira Sachs from the novel ""Five Roundabouts to Heaven" by John Bingham. Bingham wrote for the classic "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" TV show from the 1960s, so you can see where the noirish story aspects in "Married Life"comes from. The costumes, set decoration and cinematography are fantastic and do a remarkable job of capturing what life looked like for the average middle-class American back then. Particularly beguiling is McAdams who looks radiant with blonde hair. It's also a good opportunity to show that she can deliver a solid dramatic performance outside of playing the straight girl in fare like "The Wedding Crashers".
Sony Pictures Classics is releasing the film on March 21 in select theaters and today on MovieSet we have posted 5 scenes from the film for you to check out. There are also interviews with the films stars including Pierce Brosnan and Rachel McAdams that you can watch too.
