Twilight fans already lining up
Tuesday, November 18, 2008

And there it is: photographic evidence that people have begun to line up for Twilight. And they started doing it this past Sunday night. That’s right, as I write these words the Twilight line-up in L.A. has been holding strong for at least 36 hours. According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, there were about 25 people (and as Nikki Finke points out, mostly female) when the line-up began on Sunday night. There is currently about 300 waiting in that same line right now.
I can’t help but think about the line-up that started for the first Star Wars prequel back in 1999 and compare it to the one happening for Twilight — except that the Star Wars line-up primarily consisted of males and Twilight’s is primarily females. It’s like looking at the yin-yang of Hollywood geekdom, I tell you! If only there were a new Star Wars movie also opening up this coming weekend, someone could create a new spin on speed dating.
For more photographs of the line hit DHD. Finke is saying that the forecasts for Twilight’s opening weekend gross are all of the place, coming in between $35 million to an astonishing $60 million. All I know for certain is that, come Monday morning, Summit Entertainment is going to have a brand new film franchise on its corporate hands.
