Astro Boy trailer blasts off

Summit Entertainment has dropped the first trailer for Astro Boy, their first CG animated feature film. Starring the voices of Freddie Highmore (The Spiderwick Chronicles), Nicolas Cage (numerous bad and good movies), Kristen Bell (Heroes), Matt Lucas (Little Britain) and Eugene Levy (American Pie), Astro Boy is based on the famous Japanese manga character created by Osamu Tezuka and is about a mechanical robot boy and his kindly creator, a professor. Well, there’s more to it than that but who knows what they’ll keep and what they’ll toss for the movie, right?
Let’s watch the trailer, shall we?
Astro Boy hits cinemas on October 23, 2009.

As someone who’s a little familiar with the BOY, I dig the trailer, esp. the clean animation (anime, but not) and color scheme. But for the kids who grew up on PIRATES and SPIDER-MAN, not sure it can pull it off.
Besides, who goes to Kristin Bell movies for her voice?
