Shia LaBeouf becomes The Associate
Tuesday, December 02, 2008

It doesn’t matter who you are in this big wide world of ours, you’re always just one job away from being unemployed — well, unless you’re born into royalty and vastly wealthy or money means nothing to you and you already know what your role in creation is. (Alright, there are two expections but THAT’S IT.) In these uncertain economic times it pays to know precisely where you stand in regard to you career and employment options, and for Transformers and Disturbia star Shia LaBeouf, he’s just as uncertain and scared about where his next paycheck will be coming from.
The Beef is currently filming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen right now, the sequel to last year’s monster hit about giant alien robots coming to Earth and smacking each other silly. While LaBeouf was filming Transformers 2 one of the film’s producers, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, told him about a new project that he was developing based on the new John Grisham novel The Associate. Well, one thing led to another and before long Shia had agreed in principal to play the lead role in the new thriller. Of course Paramount is happy because now they get to continue making movies with one of Hollywood’s rising stars.
This one is so new to the world that it doesn’t as yet have a screenwriter working on adapting Grisham’s novel. In the film the 22-year-old will play a law school grad from Yale who winds up working for a prestigious legal firm and then finds himself at ground zero for an intricate blackmail scheme.
It remains unknown whether producer di Bonaventura also approached Optimus Prime or Megatron to co-star in The Associate.
