The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Twilight star Kristen Stewart is already using her new higher prestige standing to get a new project going, one that will tell the rise and fall of 1980s rocker Joan Jett. Stewart will play the rock and roll singer in the film The Runaways, which was the all-female band that Jett headlined before going solo in the mid-80s.
The movie will shoot sometime between Stewart working on the two Twilight sequels that have been greenlit. The real Joan Jett will serve as an executive producer on the movie.
Right now I have a hard time seeing Stewart pulling off a convincing Joan Jett in my mind’s eye. My issue isn’t so much whether I believe Kristen Stewart has the acting chops to pull off a hard rocker type but that she doesn’t fit my mental image of an appropriate Joan Jett type. She just doesn’t have the hard-edge look to her. What are your thoughts?

Well at least she likes The Clash. Unless, of course, a stylist or publicist put her in the shirt to punk her up a bit for just this story.

hmm… its hard to tell… she doesnt seem like a punker… but shes not just some normal girl… idk, i think maybe she can do it… she does have a sort of an edge to her look… im sure with professional help, she’d do pretty good. see, i think of it this way. when ppl think of her as playing this role, they only think of her as bella, that twilight girl. but I, personally, think she can further her career if she trys different and more difficult roles… and this, to me, could possibly get her out of the ‘that twilight girl’ stage.
