A mysterious casting call for…New Moon?

A posting on the film/tv jobs section of the Vancouver Craigslist website announces an open casting call for First Nations/aboriginal actors and actresses between the ages of 15 and 25 taking place next month. While the post doesn’t state for what movie the casting call is for, just that it’s for a “major motion picture,” I can hazard a guess as to what it’s for. Let’s see…major motion picture that’s filming in Vancouver this spring and it needs native teens and young adults for speaking parts. Gee, I wonder what it could be?

There are a number of big productions scheduled to film in Vancouver in the coming months but I think that this casting call is for parts in New Moon, the sequel to Twilight. It’s scheduled to shoot during that time period but I think that the smoking gun evidence is the call for young Native actors; in New Moon the character of Jacob Black leaps to the center of the action and serves as a new romantic interest for Bella Swan. Black is a werewolf and a member of the Quileute tribe; they patrol the forests that surround the small Washington town where Edward and his family of vampires live. The vamps and the wolves are ancient enemies; the only reason why the two monster clans don’t fight it out in Folks is because of a truce reached by Edward’s father and the leader of the Quileute clan. I haven’t read New Moon but from the stuff I’ve found on the net there’s a lot more shown of Jacob’s family and friends on the Quileute Indian Reservation — thus my belief that this casting call is for parts in New Moon.

Aikins/Cossey Casting is conducting a three city search for a Major Motion Picture. We are looking for young FIRST NATIONS/ABORIGINAL ACTORS AND ACTRESSES BETWEEN THE AGES OF 15 and 25. It will shoot in Vancouver starting mid March to the end of May. Experience is not a requirement. If you are male or female, between 15 and 25 years old, are First Nations and interested in a speaking part in a Hollywood release, please consider attending an open call in your area at the following location:

Open Calls will be from 9AM to 12 Noon. Potential candidates will be given script material and asked to return in the afternoon to audition. There is no cost for this Open call and at no time will you be asked to pay for the ability to audition or if you are offered a role. Just show up between 9AM and 12 Noon at the above location.
