Isabel Lucas Brightens up Vampire Movie ‘Daybreakers’

Posted by Dave on Monday, June 29, 2009

Stop me if you’ve heard this before … Vampires, the end of the world via plague, remarkably adept and charismatic people charged with saving us all.

Indeed, another vampire flick, this one is called Daybreakers and stars Ethan Hawke as a researcher in 2019 tracking down some special blood before time … runs … out …! In Theaters January 8th, 2010.

Besides what is sure to be another creepy performance by Willem Dafoe, this film is another chance for fans to see Australian actress Isabel Lucas who is also in the new action film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen playing a seducing student with a remarkable tail attacking a helpless Shia Labeouf.

She’ll also be appearing in Spielberg’s The Pacific, a quasi-non-continuation of the HBO Band of Brothers mini-series.

From my vantage point, Ms. Lucas and her country-woman Abbie Cornish seem poised to become some of Hollywood’s busiest actors in coming years.

Here’s the Daybreakers blurb:

Two-time Academy Award nominee® Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world’s population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.

Daybreakers News

Family values inspire Dafoe’s father figure

“… I was a totally regular kid. I liked sports. I never did think I was going to be an actor because, where I grew up, nobody was an actor. I didn’t even know anyone in New York City. That’s not what people did, so it never occurred to me …”

Isabel Lucas to transform into Hollywood star

Since leaving Home and Away, Lucas – who now calls Melbourne home when she’s not in LA – has roles in four projects due for release over the next year, including Stephen Spielberg’s mini-series The Pacific and Daybreakers with Ethan Hawke.

“…It’s so enjoyable playing a character that’s so different from yourself, because you can really go and take risks…”

Complete Daybreakers coverage as-it-happens.
