Viral marketing is all the rage these days, and comedy filmmaker Judd Apatow is going all out for his upcoming film “Funny People.”
He already debuted an NBC.com webpage for the fake sitcom “Yo Teach!” featuring Jason Schwartzman (who plays Seth Rogen’s roommate Jonah Hill in “Funny People”) followed by a website for the film’s main character, George Simmons, played by Adam Sandler

Below is a Youtube Clip of the “EPK” attempt for Yo Teach!
The Viral Marketeers are lampooning an entire genre of television and they are using a real network, NBC, to do so.
It doesn’t help that NBC is hopelessly stuck in fourth place in the ratings and could conceivably do an awful show like this even if it looks like that show was conceived in the 90s.
“Saved by the Bell” anyone?
Yo Teach! starring Mark Taylor Jackson, will premiere Thursday September 27th at 8:00 pm as part of the NEW Fall line-up. As you can see in the video, Yo Teach! follows wise-cracking mentor Mr. Bradford (Jackson), who oversees a class of colorful high school underachievers.

Eminem to appear in Funny People
Apatow recently told MTV that rapper Eminem will appear in the film. Though no specifics were given about the role, the director did offer an image that shows Em sitting across from Sandler.

Adam Sandler and Eminem in Funny People
RaaaaaaaaAAANDY!
Well, Director Apatow did it again. Last week, he debuted a site for character Randy Soudha titled LaughYourD*ckOff.com.
On the site, Randy (played by Aziz Ansari of Parks and Recreation) offers horribly bad stand-up routines, a bio highlighting his oral sex joke skills and his feeble attempt to drum up support for Darfur.

George Simmons or Adam Sandler?
Over the past few years, Writer/Director Judd Apatow
(The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up) has shown that nothing—not even losing your virginity or the miracle of childbirth—is sacred.
About his third film behind the camera, he says,
I’m trying to make a very serious movie that is twice as funny as my other movies. Wish me luck!
Apatow directs Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann in Funny People, the story of a famous comedian who has a near-death experience.
Adam Sandler’s character George Simmons (http://www.george-simmons.com/) also has his own webpage, and it’s quite funny.
Explore the site for some more subtle humor like ads for other Simmons films and even information on his comedy albums.
Make sure you check out Funny People which opens nationwide July 31st.
