Dan Aykroyd has confirmed that the third Ghostbusters movie is all set to go before the cameras — with the original cast in place to reprise the characters from the 1984 film.
The movie star reveals Sigourney Weaver has signed on for the project, alongside himself, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson — and the film could start shooting this winter.
Aykroyd still fears the project could “blow up” “at any second” but he hopes the new film will usher in a new generation of all-girl Ghostbusters.
“There will be a whole new generation that has to be trained, and that whole new generation will be led by an individual who
you’ll all love when you meet him but I’m not going to tell you anything yet,” teased Aykroyd. “They’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls, who’ll be learning how to use the psychotron, the accelerators and all the new stuff, the neuron splitter, which is going to be the interplaner, interceptor and all these great tools that they’re going to have, to flip from dimension to dimension.”
He also mentioned the possibility of Eliza Dushku or Alyssa Milano appearing in the movie. No, not in the nude, but still i bet those Ghostbuster jumpsuits can be pretty sexy with a fitted look.
