Poultrygeist is the story of a fast food restaurant built on the site of an ancient Indian graveyard. The chickens’ spirits and the Indians’ spirits get together and take revenge on the owners.

Many often critics pan Kaufman’s films for their low-brow aesthetic, but Kaufman, who directed Poultrygeist, told MovieSet the film is more than a satirical romp, it’s a sober statement about the “evils” of fast food industry.

“Fast food makes people fat. The animals are tortured before their killed. The rotting carcasses and shit the animals make is going into the ground and polluting the earth. The architecture of this industry is polluting the landscape of America, just visually. The workers are abused. The healthcare is awful. There’s just nothing good about it.”

“The major critics have all done [favourable] retrospectives of my work. It’s the little alternative shits that can’t see beyond the sex and violence — they have no education. But critics like Roger Ebert and those other guys, they get Troma. They understand what we do.”

“We wouldn’t be here for 35 years if our movies didn’t offer something other than sex and violence.”

“Poultrygeist is the best film I have ever directed. Without a doubt. It’s the funniest and the most thought provoking… it also has more explosive diarrhea than any movie since Ingmar Bergman’s Virgin Spring.”

Kaufman is currently penning the fifth installment of his Toxic Avenger series.
