For all you sci-fi fans out there Lionsgate Home Entertainmen released Stargate: 15th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray October 27th, 2009! This release features a new 1080p encode, along with a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. Additionally, it will offer both the theatrical and the extended cuts of the movie, and four hours of extras, including three new featurettes, a trivia track, and a gag reel.

For those of you who haven’t seen Stargate, get ready for an interstellar adventure of mass proportions! See Kurt Russell at his finest as Col. Jack O’Neil battling it out on an alien world.  Directed by Roland Emmerich (10,000 BC, Independence Day), Stargate follows Egyptologist Dr. Daniel Jackson and a small group of US troops led by Col. Jack O’Neil who are transported through the Stargate, an ancient teleportation device, to a distant planet resembling earth but ruled by a ruthless tyrant posing as the Egyptian sun god Ra.  Quickly the group realizes that if they ever wish to return safely to their own planet, they must first vanquish the tyrant Ra.  Only problem is, how do you defeat a god?

Emmerich’s next big film 2012 staring John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oliver Platt, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover follows cataclysmic events foretold to occur in the year 2012 that bring the world to an end. The film tells the story of the heroic struggle of the survivors. 2012 hits theaters November 13th, 2009.
