On Set with Christopher Walken
In this MovieSet.com exclusive clip, Christopher Walken sits down between takes on the set of The Irishman filming in Detroit to discuss his role as Shondor Birns. In the interview, the noted actor refers to himself the “world’s worst impersonator” and points out, “I don’t know what the real Shondor was like but the one in the movie will be a lot like Chris.” Mr. Walken also mentions the familial atmosphere on set of The Irishman since he’s worked with some of his fellow actors previously in New York.

Shondor Birns and the Cleveland Mafia
Christopher Walken describes Shondor’s situation in the movie, “He was big figure in Cleveland … Shondor has some guys working for him who get arrested and he needs some help so Danny (Greene played by Ray Stevenson) gets into it. He also relates his tendencies of playing “people that were” in movies and notes his surprise at learning that Shondor Birns was a real person – after accepting the role.
