
The A-Team
is a classic 80’s American action adventure television series about a fictional group of ex-United States Army Special Forces who work as soldiers of fortune while being on the run from the military for a “crime they didn’t commit“.
The nickname for “A-teams” comes from the Operational Detachments Alpha (ODA). The US Army Special Forces uses the term ODA for their 12-man direct operations teams.
The A-Team was created by writers and producers Frank Lupo and Stephen J. Cannell (who also collaborated together on Wiseguy, Riptide and Hunter) at the behest of Brandon Tartikoff, NBC’s Entertainment president.
What we know:
The A-Team will be Filming in Vancouver Aug. 17 ~ and in the Middle East shortly after.
Plot: The storyline is expected to be brought up to date featuring a new team of military men on the run. They will most likely be veterans of the Gulf War. (JM/WN)

The big-budget project, being directed by Joe Carnahan (”Smokin’ Aces”) from a screenplay by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt (”Wanted”), already has a June 11, 2010, release date. Ridley and Tony Scott are producing.
An A-Team movie has long been desired by the fans with a number of high profile stars touted to take on the roles made famous by George Peppard (Colonel John ‘Hannibal’ Smith ), Mr. T (Sergeant Bosco ‘B.A’ Baracas), Dirk Benedict (Lieutenant Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck) and Dwight Schultz (Captain H.M. Murdock).
The Classic A Team cast
Dirk Benedict – He was already famous as the original Starbuck in BattleStar Galactica and since the A-team he has done a wide variety of TV and Films including Baywatch, Walker, Texas Ranger, Official Denial, Shadow Force, Blue Tornado Bejewelled and More.
Mr. T – He broke huge in Rocky 3 as Clubber Lang and continues to be a fan favorite and even sold his famous gold to help the victims of Katrina.
George Peppard – Sadly, this veteran leading man passed away in May 8, 1994 but is best remembered for playing Colonel John ‘Hannibal’ Smith.
Dwight Schultz – Played the famous Captain H.M. Murdock in the original series. He has also done an extensive amount of work since the A-Team including Terminator:Salvation, Madworld, Spiderman: web of shadows, a ton of voice acting includings Afro Samurai, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, God of War, Fantastic 4, Metal Gear Solid, Superman: Returns, Splinter Cell and a ton more. Bradley Cooper (Confirmed)
IESB asked Bradley Cooper point blank if he was excited about playing Faceman in The A-Team. His reaction? A mixture of surprise and astonishment – “That’s out already!?”
Following some laughter and excitement, he continued, “Wow. Yeah…its Joe Carnahan’s. It’s very interesting. It’ll be cool. It will be cool [to] see what…He’ll make a great movie out of it.”
None of the actors for Fox’s June 11, 2010 release have officially been announced.

There’s been no mention of a female character, but it seems likely that Tanya Robert’s character “Amy” will make an appearance in the film.

In line with the TV series, producers are planning to keep the action non-mortal instead concentrating on large-scale explosions and clever inventions. The budget is expected to be over the $100 million (£66m) mark, and pundits are predicting a full-on special effects extravaganza.
