October is here, and you know what that means! Halloween preparations all month long! If you’re having a hard time thinking of a super spooky costume or getting in the Halloween spirit, then head on down to the theater and scare yourself silly with either Ruben Fleischer’s horror/comedy Zombieland, or Oren Peli’s horror/thriller Paranormal Activity.
Of course not everyone can handle getting scared in the theater, so if group shocks don’t tickle your fancy then why not pick up Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell and stay in for a night of screams.
Zombieland
Zombies continue to be one of the most popular movie monsters on the market, but zombie comedies don’t come along all that often. Shaun of the Dead has reigned supreme since 2004 as the only mainstream zombie comedy, but Zombieland gives it a run for its money with a Hollywood twist on the zombie comedy. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Zombieland stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin.

Zombieland
Zombieland tells the story of a hand full of survivors who come together in a search of sanctuary in a world over run by zombies. Narrated by the cowardly Columbus (Eisenberg), the story unfolds after his chance encounter with zombie killer Tallahassee (Harrelson) who takes Columbus on his epic quest to find the last Twinkie in Zombieland. The two are later joined by sisters Little Rock (Breslin) and Wichita (Stone) who are determined to find the one place untouched by the apocalypse – Pacific Playland.
Although Zombieland may seem like formulaic comedy relying solely on gore and catchphrases to draw an audience, you may find yourself presently surprised by plot twists un-forecasted in the films trailers. But twists or not, check out Zombieland for its pure entertainment value, and the most fun you’ll have in theaters this Halloween!
Paranormal Activity
If you’re not a big Internet junky, then chances are you haven’t heard of Paranormal Activity. The $15,000 micro budget film has been getting all its publicity through world of mouth and online audience recommendations through Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo and fansites. With that said, people have enjoyed Paranormal Activity so much that it practically markets itself!

Paranormal Activity
Paranormal Activity is a Blair Witch-esk horror/thriller that tells the story of a happy, carefree couple who are haunted by a demonic spirit. After this young middle class couple moves into what seemed to be a typical suburban starter house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.
Directed by Oren Peli, Paranormal Activity stars Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong and Ashley Palmer. Paranormal Activity has not yet been released nation wide, so if you wanna be scared outta your socks this Halloween, click here to demand Paranormal Activity play in your city.
Drag Me to Hell
If watching horror movies in a dark theater is just to taxing for you, then pick up Drag Me to Hell on DVD & Blu ray October 13th and make sure to watch it with the lights on. Directed by Sam Raimi, Drag Me to Hell staring Alison Lohman, Justin Long, Lorna Raver, Dileep Rao, David Paymer and Reggie Lee, offers the creepiest combination of laugh out loud humor with blood chilling horror that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat!

Drag Me to hell
Drag Me to Hell tells the story of Christine Brown (Lohman), an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, Professor Clay Dalton (Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Raver) enters their lives…and everything begins to unravel. When her loan is denied and she loses her house, the shamed Mrs. Ganush places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Christine is tortured and desperate to have her old life back, so she sets on a quest to reverse the spell. But as evil forces close in and threaten to drag her deep into hell, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?
Because the film is directed by Sam Raimi you may be tricked into expecting laughs similar to Army of Darkness, but don’t be fooled, Raimi pulled out all the stops with this flick, to create one of the scariest films you’ll watch this Halloween season.
