Vanessa Hudgens has auditioned for the role of Leah Clearwater in New Moon, the sequel to Twilight. The character that Hudgens, one of the stars of the High School Musical franchise, would play is a shapeshifter and one of the werewolves that live in the fictional town of Forks, WA and who don’t get along with the vampire clan, the Cullens.
The news first surfaced on MTV when Twilight cast member Ashley Greene told the music outlet that Hudgens had tried out for the part. “I think she’d be great,” said Greene about the possibility.
Filming on New Moon is scheduled to commence this spring in Vancouver, Canada. The movie is anticipated to be out in theaters before the end of the year.
