Tomorrow is Friday the 13th and yes, the remake for Friday the 13th is set to be released. But another 80’s slasher is making a splash today.
Newline and Michael Bay’s company Platinum Dunes, the two companies behind the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, have found a director for the project. According to THR’s Risky Biz Blog reports that Samuel Bayer, an award winning music video director best known for directing Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Blind Melon’s “No Rain” will be taking on the Wes Craven classic.
The buzz on this project is that the story may be a lot darker in the way it approaches Freddy Krueger as a child molester which was only implied in the original film. A delicate subject that has to be handled very carefully. Perhaps one to be avoided.

Who’s playing Freddy? It’s not known yet. But I’m a Robert Englund fan. If he doesn’t reprise his role we’ll most likely see him make a cameo somewhere in the film.
