Tron finds a leading man

If you are at all a movie nerd you have heard that Disney is making big budget (rumored around $150 million) sequel to the 80’s cult classic Tron, which starred Jeff Bridges as a video game programmer who ended up in cyberspace. The sequel that has already been through a number of name changes like the boring Tron 2 and the more creative, but clunky, Tr2n and is now being called simply, Tron.

Wait. Wasn’t Tron a movie from the 80’s starring Jeff Bridges as a video game programmer who…

Anyway, they have found a leading man in Garrett Hedlund.

Garrett Hedlund cast as lead in Tron

Disney has picked up-and-comer Garrett Hedlund to star in “Tron,” the studio’s sequel to the 1982 cult classic by the same name being directed by Joseph Kosinski. [source]

As a relatively unknown, but we’re told, up and comer this will definitely be a breakthrough role for Hedlund. You can see Hedlund in his supporting roles in Eragon, Friday Night Lights and Troy.

Jeff Bridges will reprise his role of Flynn who is now the CEO of the software company.
