Expectations

What I’d Seen - A couple of bus adds that intrigued and confused me.  I saw a lot of poster adds around town with familiar faces on it, but I wasn’t sure what the movie was about, aside from sleazy used car salesmen.

What I’d Heard – Not much, when I received the DVD to review, no one I knew had heard of it, aside from the actors that star in it.

What I Wanted – Laughs, witty dialogue and a good time.

Experience

What Turned Me On - The funniest comedy no one ever told me about.

This film had me laughing start to finish.  Not only was the dialogue hilarious, but so was the cinematography and scene set up. I enjoyed how the film played on car-salesmen, as their sleazy sales ploys and crazy attire are often stereotyped, but I’ve never seen a movie about them before. I also really enjoyed how every character had an entertaining side story.  Because the film has such a talented cast, it was nice to see them all utilized instead of the film focusing entirely around Don Ready’s conflict.

What Turned Me Off - A little recycled

If you don’t like a little potty humor then you may not enjoy this movie. But if you can handle dirty jokes, coarse language and general vulgarity and ridiculousness, then you should be just fine. The Goods falls under the category of recycled humor. It uses familiar jokes under new circumstances.  Some of them are a hit, and some of them are a miss.

Aftermath

I Left Thinking - I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this film. I like comedies that serve me laugh after laugh, even if they are occasionally lowbrow.

I Left Saying - I would totally see this film again.

Expiry Date – This comedy is going to be funny no matter when you see it. This film will continue to entertain as long as car salesmen continue to be stereotyped, as long as dildo jokes continue to be funny and as long as it’s not socially acceptable to be in a boy-band.
