This is a shameless rip off of John Milius’ CONAN THE BARBARIAN. But while CONAN was great moviemaking, this on paper has “bad movie” written all over it. If it’s exploitive enough though, that just might save it. But since Rodriguez is producing the movie and he’s in love with the actress, he’ll make sure she doesn’t have to be naked onscreen so SONJA will be nothing more than a cocktease and a waste of time. Why didn’t Rodriguez just throw his desperado’s hat into the ring and direct the new Conan movie, instead?

It’s not really just a Conan ripoff. It’s an adaptation of an old comic. Red Sonja was loosely based on a character by Robert E. Howard, who wrote the original Conan short stories. There could have been a degree of ripping-off at the beginning, but now it’s just parallel development.
And how is a nearly-naked woman so much worse than a completely naked one? Use your imagination!

This is some of the worst movie artwork I’ve seen lately. Really bad photoshop comps, like they just took one image of Rose McGowan’s face and pasted it into a bunch of different things. Everything looks weird and disproportionate. Amateurish.

Not only is this an adaptation of a stupid comic but its a remake of the move Red Sonja which came out shortly after Conan trying to ride its success. Its going to suck because even though Mcgowan is super hot, shes a bad actress and this is a stupid story, plus the old movie was pretty terrible so its hard for me to believe that this will somehow be good.
