Christopher Lloyd’s home destroyed by wildfires

Back to the Future actor Christopher Lloyd has lost his home due to the recent spate of wildfires in Southern California. Best remembered for his role as the eccentric professor Doc Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy of movies and as crazy Jim from the 1980s TV series Taxi, Lloyd’s $11 million dollar home burned down when the wildfire ripped through the prestigious Montecito neighborhood this past weekend. Back to the Future sneakers for the true fan

Remember those Nike runners that were inspired by the ones worn by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future Part II? The official sneakers were a bit of a letdown for those of us wishing for a perfect replica of McFly’s futuristic footwear but who should ride to the rescue but a British company called The Movie Shop. These guys have a near-perfect reproduction of the Nike shoes! They have the lighted glow in the logo and soles just like their movie counterpart but, alas, no power lacing action. The shoes only come in a size 8 and aren’t meant to be worn but put on display somewhere in your dwelling.
Here comes the tough part to swallow: the 2015 trainer replicas are £349.99 — which works out to about around $570 USD or $706 CDN. How many Back to the Future box sets could you pick up for that price? Try 25 or so box sets of the trilogy, give or take a Part II or III.

Back to the Future fans take it to the road

More than 20 years after the first Back to the Future film blasted its way into theaters and the hearts of millions worldwide there still exists a passionate bunch of fans that will do just about anything to jump inside their tricked out DeLorean and follow in the footsteps of Doc Brown. Two such people are Terry and Oliver Holler and they’ve found a cool way to turn their passion for BTTF into something ultra-cool: a way to raise money for a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
The Hollers bought and tricked out an actual DeLorean to look just like the one in the Back to the Future trilogy. Now they are taking time off of their dayjobs to drive their time travelling hot rod across all fifty states in America. Along the way the Hollers are bringing attention to Parkinson’s, the neuro-muscular degenerative condition that BTTF star Michael J. Fox suffers from. And if the Hollers have their way their way they will raise one million dollars to give towards finding a cure for the disease.
Oliver and Terry will be posting updates on their website, ToTheFuture.org, and you’ll also be able to follow their cross-country trek via Google maps. Photos and updates will be posted to their site along with the latest tally of donations.
