Friday the 13th images and poster

Like it or not, the remake of the classic slasher horror film Friday the 13th is making it’s way to screens on Friday February 13th, 2009.
In case you have forgotten, the plot of the film, produced by Michael Bay and directed by Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake helmer, Marcus Nispel, is “a group of young adults discover a boarded up Camp Crystal Lake, where they soon encounter Jason Voorhees and his deadly intentions.” [source IMDb]
Ahead of the film comes a trailer (you can view in HD via Yahoo!) and a poster that you can look at with screenshots from the trailer after the jump.

Friday the 13th trailer online
Thursday, October 23, 2008
The trailer for this Friday the 13th remake looks like fun. I’m not sure how I feel about fast Jason though. His slow but relentless pace in the older films is part of what made him as scary as he was. I do realize that Jason ran in a couple of the those movies, but that doesn’t mean I have to like that fact.

New Watchmen, Twilight, Friday the 13th footage shown
Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Last night Spike TV broadcast the 2008 Scream Awards. If you didn’t catch it you missed out on watching a ton of actors come out and plug their upcoming movies just before presenting an award, followed by a quick cut-away to someone in the goth/industrial/punk crowd.
Three upcoming 2009 releases had new material shown during the broadcast: Watchmen, the remake of Friday the 13th and Twilight. And by God, I’m going to show them to you because that’s how I roll.
First up, Watchmen. There’s a few new nice moments in this footage including one of Rorschach leaping up into The Comedian’s apartment, Dr. Manhattan dissassembling a tank using his powers and Nite-Owl and Silk Spectre kissing while a nuclear bomb goes off in the background. Director Zack Snyder certainly seems to be following almost exactly to the comic book’s imagery:
Next comes the first real footage from Friday the 13th. If you know your Jason Voorhees then you’ll probably find that the only real difference between the old F13th and this new one is that Jason now can move fast, which in my opinion ain’t a sacriligious thing to do.
And bringing up the rear is Twilight. Again, some new stuff intermixed with footage we’ve already seen from the trailer:

Friday the 13th trailer hits next month
Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Remaking classic 80s horror movies has been the rage in Hollywood for a couple of years now. Various movie studios have had great success in updating such bloody classics as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, Halloween, The Hitcher and The Fog (well, that last one was a bomb.) Other projects are in the pipeline such as a new Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, with the latter film slated for release early next year.
Since the new Friday the 13th has already wrapped filming and is in post-production, anxious horror fans have been wondering when they will get to see what the new speedier version of masked Jason Voorhees looks like in action. Bloody Disgusting is reporting this morning that you’ll get your opportunity to see the slasher in action when the trailer for Friday the 13th unfolds in front of Saw V on October 24, just in time for the Halloween scary season.

It’s Jason Voorhees… Again
Tuesday, July 22, 2008
Just in time for Comic Con Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema has released the first official image of Derek Mears starring as Jason Voorhees in the upcoming upcoming release, FRIDAY THE 13TH. No, not another sequel. This time it’s a retelling of the original story about the slaughter of sexually frustrated youth camp counselors around the idyllic Crystal Lake.
Check out the photo after the jump.

Being a Friday the 13th franchise fan from way back I’m pulling for this one. But if the recent horror remake track record is any indication we might be disappointed.
Question - Are the going to bring Kevin Bacon back to kill him again? Just wondering.
