Clooney caught staring at goats
Tuesday, November 18, 2008

That’s a shaggy George Clooney dressed up in military garb for his role as a “psychic soldier” in Men Who Stare at Goats, his new movie filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Three spy photos were snapped on Saturday as Clooney stepped from his trailer and made his way to the soundstage. All photos can be viewed on the gossipy Just Jared website.

The men (and one woman) who stare at goats
Friday, October 10, 2008
The cast for George Clooney’s upcoming comedy/drama Men Who Stare at Goats is coming together nicely. In addition to the salt-and-pepper haired Ocean’s Eleven star (who’s also producing) we’ve got Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey, Jeff Bridges and Stephen Lang. About to join is actress Rebecca Mader, best known as the tempestuous redhaired Charlotte on ABC’s Lost. And yeah, the movie is about a bunch of guys that stare at goats (but only because they want to kill them.)
This is one of those incidences where the truth is stranger than the fiction. Men Who Stare at Goats was first a non-fiction book by Jon Ronson, a British journalist, who made contact with a man that claimed to be employed by the U.S. military as a psychic spy/assassin. According to Ronson’s insider, and the evidence that the writer uncovered during his investigation, there exists a whole secret wing in the military that is trying to unlock secret mind powers. These agents would be able to kill people (and test animals, which is where the title of the book comes from) with a single thought, render themselves invisible to the naked eye, walk through walls, read minds, astral travel and so on. Incredible as it may sound the military have been trying to create their psychic soldiers since at least 1979, and after 9/11 the program may have been ramped up.
Clooney’s producing partner Grant Heslov will direct the movie, production of which should get rolling closer to the end of the year.
