Berman’s back!
Tuesday, September 02, 2008
Matt Berman, the director of Hollywood and Wine, hits us up with his latest director’s blog post. The news is good: he’s editing and nothing is gonna stop him now (apologies to Starship.)
“First off let me say that my meeting with Sevendust went very well!” the man with the mission tells MovieSet exclusively. “Lead singer Lajon Witherspoon and drummer Morgan Rose were very
receptive to the idea of creating the title track to Hollywood & Wine. Here to hoping both sides can work out the details and make it happen. Kevin Farley and I have just completed our first week of editing and boy do we like how it’s coming together. The chemestry between Chris Kattan and Nicky Whelan is amazing and thank the good lord we have Chazz Palminteri in this film. SO FUNNY! Right now we have been sidelined to put together a teaser trailer. I hope when it is completed we can put it online for everyone to see. That’s it for now but I’ll be in touch soon!”
The dude sounds excited. Now I have to ask him the hard question: what’s his favorite take out food place when he’s putting in those long hours in the editing room?

Berman blogs again about “Hollywood & Wine”
Tuesday, July 08, 2008
The director of Hollywood & Wine, Matt Berman, has once again graced us with another of his blog entries. If you haven’t been following what all of the cool kids have been doing, Matt has been doing an exclusive blog for MovieSet, giving us his thoughts on what it’s like sitting in the big chair and calling the shots on this comedy.
Hollywood & Wine stars SNL alumni Chris Kattan, Norm MacDonald, David Spade and Horatio Sanz as well as other important peeps liek Chazz Palmintero and Vivica A. Fox. The project was shephered by several relatives of Chris Farley’s immediate family. You can learn more about the plot by hitting the MovieSet page for the flick. Production has now wrapped and in his latest blog post Matt tells us about one of the final scenes that he directed as well as reveals which blonde Playmate of the Year makes an appearance on David Spade’s talk show. Oh, and there’s a new photo that he shares with us too! Go take a look and see.

The Farley brothers provide their muscle for “Hollywood & Wine”
Friday, June 20, 2008
“Hollywood & Wine” Matt Berman is blogging again. The B-man has delivered his latest exclusive MovieSet blog entry, his third, and also given us another exclusive still from his movie. This time the subjects in Matt’s photo are none other than Kevin and John Farley, brothers to the late “Saturday Night Live” comedian Chris Farley. The rest of the Farley family are all over “Hollywood & Wine; other brother Kevin P. Farley is the co-writer and co-director partner with Matt and sister Jennifer is a producer on the picture.
“Today was a great day of filming,” Matt tells us in his latest blog entry. “This was the first day Chazz Palminteri really got to sink his teeth into playing the role of Geno Scarpaci. Boy was it great to see. He came up with some great stuff and I mean stuff so funny you can’t hear yourself laugh. Today was also the day Chris Kattan had a great scene with Kevin and John Farley who play Geno’s muscle Bruno and Joey.”
That’s Kevin wearing the tan shirt on the left in the photo and John on the right in the grey suit and curly hair. Matt also writes to tell us that Horatio Sanz is filming his scene today.

Not only beautiful but what a talent.”

Here’s the directions to “Hollywood & Vine”
Wednesday, June 04, 2008
Ever since the days of Belushi, Ackroyd, Chase and Murray, fans of “Saturday Night Live” have shown that they are interested in following the careers of their favorite comedians when they embark on movie careers. If you’re one of those people, or you have a special place for the antics of former “SNL” funnymen Chris Kattan, Norm MacDonald, David Spade or Chris Parnell, then MovieSet has a brand new project to tell you about today. It’s called “Hollywood and Wine” and the film stars all four “SNL” alumni. Mr. Peepers himself (a.k.a. Chris Kattan) is playing the main character, Jack Sanders, a luckless restaurateur who’s always one step shy of being totally broke. Jack’s girlfriend Diane is luckless too, struggling to find her big break in Hollywood while auditioning for parts that she is totally inappropriate for. The only positive thing for Diane is a house that she desperately wants to buy but the problem is her boyfriend doesn’t has the cash to go halfers with her. Sensing that he’s skating on thin ice, Jack decides to do something crazy and borrow $50K from a gangster with the plan to bet it all on a hand of blackjack, double his money, pay back the hood and then have his half of the downpayment for the house. It’s a great plan…up to the part where Jack loses at blackjack and now owes the mob 50 large.
The plot gets wackier from there and you can read the movie’s synopsis (which was supplied to us straight from the production.) How wacky is wacky? How about having Norm MacDonald playing a veteran porn producer and David Spade doing a turn as a TV show host? This one has potential and now you’re learning about it first right here on MovieSet.
The production team is still in the process of filling out the rest of the cast but as soon as I hear the latest news I’ll be sure and send word down the MovieSet blog grape vine. For now, go visit the MovieSet listing for “Hollywood and Wine” to scope out the rest of the cast and crew info.
