Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett?

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Twilight star Kristen Stewart is already using her new higher prestige standing to get a new project going, one that will tell the rise and fall of 1980s rocker Joan Jett. Stewart will play the rock and roll singer in the film The Runaways, which was the all-female band that Jett headlined before going solo in the mid-80s. Continue reading…

Twilight actors to earn big paycheck for sequels

So here’s the proof that at least one of my predictions about the mega-success of Twilight has come to pass: the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are going to get five times more to star in the sequel than they earned in the first film. The S-T reports that the duo reportedly made $2 million each to star in the first vampire abstinence movie ever made and now they’ll make $10 mil each for New Moon, the sequel, plus a percentage of the box office for the remaining movies that they make (there are four books in the Twilight series so there’ll be at least four movies, I figure.)

The Adventureland filmmaker understands that your first job sucks

Watch this trailer for Adventureland, the director of Superbad’s new comedy about a fresh-faced high school graduate (Jesse Eisenberg) who lands his first full-time job at a theme park. How bad does the job suck? Judging from what’s seen in this trailer, it’s somewhere on the end of the massive suckage scale. However, there are benefits to the gig such as romancing Kristen Stewart (currently turning heads in Twilight) and a beardless Ryan Reynolds dispensing the sage-like wisdom of a supervisor in his 20s.

Twilight is #1 at the box office

…much to no one’s surprise but the big news is how much Summit’s emo vamp romance made. It beat Quantum of Solace’s opening which was $69 million. How much? Try $70.5 mil. Twilight took in more than $20K per screening over the weekend, pushing it far ahead of the weekend’s number two movie, Quantum of Solace, which added $27.4 m in its second weekend of release. New photos from Twilight

Summit Entertainment tapped us on the shoulder and told us about some new stills from their upcoming it’s-gonna-be-a-hit Twilight. We’ve got a photo showing Edward (Robert Pattison) opening a can of vampire whoop-ass on James (Cam Giganet); we’ve got a still of Natalie (played by Nikki Reed, there she is over on the right) that I haven’t seen anywhere else on the ‘net; and last but not least, there’s a photo of Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward and his fang gang.
We’ve also added the three original promotional shots of the Cullen brood. These were released to the media shortly after the initial casting announcement was made. We’re a little late to the party there but that’s alright, we took the time to dress up and get beer for everyone, alright?
Twilight opens November 21, 2008.
