The man labeled a “terrorist group leader” in Bruno claims he is now a committed pacifist and that the movie’s star, Sasha Baron Cohen, conducted the interview under false pretenses, according to WorldNetDaily.
Ayman Abu Aita served in the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades from 2000 until 2003, after which he did a two year stint in Israeli prison. Now, however, he is dedicated to the Palestinan cause through non-violent means and conducted the interview for Bruno on the pretense it would rally support of international youth. He was shocked to learn the film depicts a homosexual character and contains graphic nudity and sexual fetishes. He also felt there was nothing unusual about Baron Cohen’s appearance or body language to suggest something was amiss with the interview.
Bruno ruled the box office this weekend with an estimated $30.4 million, throwing Transformers 2 to a distant third. To secure it’s success, in the run-up to Bruno’s North American premier, Baron Cohen was aggressively promoting the movie.
When the comedian described to CBS’s David Letterman last week the way he met Aita at an undisclosed location, Aita slammed him as a “big liar” who “made up stories”.
“[Baron Cohen] said this was a film going to help the Palestinian cause,” Aita said. “When I heard (four days ago) what this film was about I really didn’t believe it.”
It comes as no surprise that Aita is consulting lawyers with regards to a lawsuit.

Variety is reporting Universal Pictures will simultaneously release a tamer version of its controversial offering, Bruno, so that younger British movie-goers can get around its current 18-and-over rating.
Perhaps due to the movie’s disappointing opening at the box office, the filmmakers resubmitted Bruno to the The British Board of Film Classification after deleting a minute and a half worth scenes containing the movie’s strongest sexual depictions and references. The abandoned footage includes a montage of exaggerated sexual activity, the miming of various sexual acts and scenes from a swingers’ party.
Universal decided to cut the film after scores of the underage fans that made Sasha Baron Cohen’s last film, Borat, such a runaway success were turned away at the theatre.
Vying now for a less restrictive “15″ rating, the studio hopes Bruno and his myriad of perversions can reach that younger, impressionable audience.

Seems no other filmmaker cranks out the content like Tyler Perry who makes a couple major features a year - mostly based around Madea, a sassy Grandma with trouble written all over her - but also brings a message with her madness!
The newest installment is “I Can Do Bad All by Myself ” - here’s the gist:
When “Madea”, America’s favorite pistol-packing grandma, catches sixteen-year-old Jennifer and her two younger brothers looting her home, she decides to take matters into her own hands and delivers the young delinquents to the only relative they have: their aunt April.
Initially wanting nothing to do with the kids, April learns along the way that she can change her old ways and become a better person. But it takes a lot of work and the help of a handsome Mexican immigrant who moves in with April to push her to change.
The previous adventure was Madea Goes to Jail - the DVD release of which was featured on the Behind the Scenes vidcast #49. Tyler Perry is a solo-industry in that he produces, directs, writes AND stars in the Madea films as the title character.
This clip gives a sense of what’s Tyler Perry’s style is all about, ergo: “I’m not gonna put my weapons down for no officer, I’m sorry. All I want you to do is send an ambulance because I’m gonna bust a cap in these fools.”
More clips from I Can Do Bad All By Myself are coming but be sure to explore the Madea Goes to Jail archive for 20+ videos of interviews, behind the scenes and b-roll.

Vassup Hollywood!
The flamboyant fashionista donned some outrageous outfits during his exhausting promotional tour through Europe, but he seems to have saved his biggest shock frock for the Hollywood premiere of the Bruno movie.
The incredible stunt involves Sacha Baron Cohen as BRÜNO riding into the premiere of his Borat Sequel on a military-style tank, completely covered in glam and mirrors, dancing to the latest Techno beats!
Check out the outrageous
Bruno tours the Globe!
Bruno celebrated the German premiere of his movie by appearing before crowds at the famous Brandenburg Gate wearing a pink knitted bodysuit and matching furry boots.
But what stunned Berliners most was without question his knitted genitalia, hanging out on display for all to admire.
Amsterdam!
The next stop on the tour was Amsterdam, where Bruno arrived on the scene on a jet ski.
He piloted his craft up the tight canal (like someone who’s obviously done it before) and splashed down in the middle of the city’s infamous red light district.
On cue, a whole throng of throng-wearing male models dozen men then emerged from behind the curtains of the three-story building, where female prostitutes normally display their wares to passersby on the street.
The U.K.!
Fans flocked over to Leicester Square on June 17 to see Sacha Baron Cohen strut his stuff as Bruno, and they definitely weren’t disappointed. He showed up in London on Wednesday in skimpy Buckingham Palace guard regalia, revealing even more than he did at the movie’s Paris premiere.
Check out the Bruno Highlight Videoclip below!
Bruno opens in theaters in Canada and the U.S. on July 10th.

In character as the gay Austrian fashion reporter, he donned an extravagant new take on the traditional Foot Guard uniform which involved a lot of bare skin.
Bruno is the newest character for Baron Cohen after the success of Borat, who was as hairy as men come.
Bruno is completely hair free - all in a day’s work for the 37-year-old comedian! See photos from the all-star premiere throughout the post and on our Sitelet.

Gillian Shaw of the Vancouver Sun newspaper shared the MovieSet story with her readers in an article called “Online and on the set” on June 9, 2009.
The article ran as a full page on the Entertainment section and you can explore two versions online in both the Technology and Entertainment sections. The print edition includes a screenshot of the Behind the Scenes vidcast show with Shaun and Eric, while the online version features a video with Director of Fan Communities Dave Olson giving a tour of MovieSet.com (including Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus).
The article kicks off by asking: Care to wander onto the set of a movie shoot, chat with the actors, see the inside story on the stunts?
Well, do you?
This kind of set access has been the goal of MovieSet CEO Colleen Nystedt since 2005 and she continues to educate and push her industry forward with the belief that there is a universal interest in how movies are made and that the action on-set is something fans care about. MovieSet seeks to satisfy that hunger by delivering value to both the film industry, with the suite of production tools, and to all passionate movie fans, by providing exclusive access to great content.
Here’s a snippet from the article to explain:
The site flips traditional movie marketing on its head, much the way online music has transformed the relationship between music makers and their fans. Like many traditional content-oriented industries, movie making has been more about closely guarding the content and releasing it on a prescribed schedule than in sharing it and offering inside sneak peeks.
“It is part of the Hollywood thing that they think they don’t need to communicate with fans,” said Nystedt. “To hold things back is very old school thinking.
“On the web, exclusivity is dead. If you hold back stuff it is either going to get stolen or it is going to get ignored.”
The article quotes the erstwhile leader of the “social media renegades,” Dave Olson, who relates the focus on fan participation as the key to traffic growth and enthusiasm for the site, using our recent Death Warrior campaign as an example (links added):
For small very specialized films, such as Death Warrior, a mixed martial arts film that included livestream video among its offerings for fans, Movieset allowed it to find a core audience that shared a passion for the action film.
“We found out where fans of that genre hang out, we communicated with them in their language and we invited them to take part,” said Olson. “We even gave away the bloody sweatshirt that Georges St-Pierre was killed in to a fan at the end of it.”
Finally, Ms. Shaw’s article outlines some of the other tactics we’ve used to bring movie fans behind the scenes and a call to action for movie makers of all kinds ~ from indies to majors ~ to hop aboard the MovieSet cluetrain:
“The site’s front page is refreshed daily and we’re outreaching to fans through Twitter, a Facebook trivia application and a behind-the-scenes vid cast,” said Olson.
While it still goes against the grain to loosen their grip on content, traditional studios are stepping aboard.
“Studios one by one are starting to realize there is some value here,” said Olson. “They see it is a conversation that is going on and it will go on without them.
“They are saying ‘we should start to participate whether we want to or not.’”
Dave Olson gives a tour of MovieSet.com
Indeed, there are now excellent examples which demonstrate the power of MovieSet’s two-headed monster. Cast and Crew members are employing our tools to streamline their daily workflow, they deliver content directly to their movies page including still photos, videos, news, or blog posts.
Once uploaded, the rich content gives the social media conversationalists an opportunity to reach out to an engaged community of fans interested in the film. Fans then become active contributors by following, supporting and commenting throughout each phase of production. And so on, and so on …
