If you’re not familiar with the manifesto it breaks down like so:

1. Culture always builds on the Past.

2. The Past always tries to control the Future.

3. Our Future is becoming less Free.

4. To Build Free Societies you must limit the control of the Past.

To me, this manifesto points towards an imperative question of our era; Is a culture free to exchange & express ideas, rapidly & with no barriers, more productive?

Only time and an army of lawyers will be able to inform us of what we should think on this issue. And while we wait, others are engaged — Like the guys over at Oilyfilms who had this to say about their RiP related remix:

In the spirit of the Remix Manifesto , I pirated parts of the film onto 16mm Black and White film with my bolex, then hand-processed, tinted and toned it, then composited it digitally. The soundtrack is an old jazz show, recorded from an old reel-to-reel and mangled on the computer.

This piece is something you’ll have to see to believe.
