Control Alt Delete gets reviewed at TIFF
Thursday, September 04, 2008

Monica Bartyzel of collider.com gave a positive review of Control Alt Delete’s recent screening at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival:
Balancing the nostalgia with the quirk, and adding a myriad of laughs, Control Alt Delete is a simple and straight-forward romp. Labine takes the material and presents it with a shrug. Yes, Lewis’ penis is a menace to computer cases everywhere, but while the subject matter is weird, the story is not. Think of it like American Pie – while those crazy kids were trying sex with a pie, or band equipment, they were still presented as run-of-the-mill teens.[more at source - collider.com]

A couple of 50 Dead Men Walking stills
Friday, August 22, 2008
The more I read about 50 Dead Men Walking starring Sir Ben Kingsley, Jim Sturgess and Rose McGowan, the more I want to see it. There can never be enough gritty espionage films full of intrigue and the chance of being exposed at any moment. A film about a spy infiltrating the IRA is right up this moviegoer’s alley.
From the look of these two stills, courtesy Brightlight Pictures, the cinematography looks appropriate as well:

As we’ve mentioned here at MovieSet before, this film will have multiple screenings at the upcoming 2008 Toronto International Film Festival. Check out times for the screenings, both for press and the public right here.

Revised screeing times for 50 Dead Men Walking
Monday, August 18, 2008
Handmade Films sent MovieSet a revised schedule for the Toronto International Film Festival screenings of their film 50 Dead Men Walking, starring Jim Sturgess, Sir Ben Kingsley and Rose McGowan (soon to play Red Sonja for Robert Rodriguez). Here’s the information:
Please note that the festival organisers have advised us of slight changes to our screening times at Toronto for 50 Dead Men Walking.
The final confirmed screening times are listed on the TIFF page for the film.
*** We have removed the Press and Industry screenings previously listed as requested by TIFF. Also this article from The Hollywood Reporter has more speculation as to why the first press screening has been cancelled. ***
We are looking at organising an additional buyers` screening given that the public screenings and the second official press and industry screenings are rather late in the festival and we will advise you of the details of the screening (likely to be on Monday 8th Sept) once we have them.
Looking forward to seeing you very soon.
All best wishes in the meantime,
The Handmade Team

HandMade’s 50 Dead Men Walking toward Toronto Film Festival
Thursday, August 14, 2008

HandMade Films, a company started in 1972 by Beatle George Harrison and famous for classics like Monty Python’s The Life of Brian, Time Bandits (a personal favorite) and the cult hit Withnail and I are screening a number of their films at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
50 Dead Men Walking starring Jim Sturgess (21, Across the Universe) and Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler’s List, Lucky Number Slevin, Elegy) will receive its International premiere during the festival by way of a Gala Screening at the Roy Thompson Hall. Screening times for the film are on the official TIFF page for the film.
50 Dead Men Walking, is inspired by Martin McGartland’s shocking real life story.
Martin is a young lad from west Belfast in the late 1980s who is recruited by the British Police to spy on the IRA. He works his way up the ranks as a volunteer for the IRA whilst feeding information to his British handler and saving lives in the process; until one day he is exposed, captured and tortured to within an inch of his life. He escaped dramatically by throwing himself from a tower block window and is still in hiding today. [from IMDb]
