Twilight sequel already being worked on
Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Nikki Finke is reporting that she’s heard a sequel to Twilight is already in development at Summit. File that under “Duh” but the buzz for this tween flick is phenominal; as Finke reports the soundtrack is a bestseller on Amazon yet it’s not out yet, the movie calenders are selling like hotcakes and in the comments and talkbacks across the internet the fans of Twilight are sharing how they are planning to take off November 21 from work or school. This is the Star Wars Episode I event for fangirls, or as I just thought up, the fanged Titanic.
I’ve already gone on record in this blog that I’m not looking forward to Twilight. Nothing that I’ve seen of it appeals to me and I think that’s because I’m an old school kind of guy when it comes to vampires. They shouldn’t be running around in the daytime, they shouldn’t be romancing teen girls and they shouldn’t have as much product in their hair as Robert Patterson does in the promo stills for this movie. Humans are food for suckheads, end of train of thought. But I’m also wise enough to know what sells and Twilight has got the pulse of the zeitgeist going for it. Finke is reporting that Summit, the picture’s distributor, is forecasting a moderate $20 million dollar opening. I say that’s a low ball expectation; this sucker (pun intended) could go well into the $50 million opening ballpark. I don’t have to like it but I know that it’s gonna be huge.
All that is missing is a Celine Dion song.

“Twilight” dawns on MovieSet
Tuesday, July 29, 2008
It’s been called the next Harry Potter, both in terms of being a runaway bestselling book series and as a potential film franchise. It’s Twilight, the first novel in Stephanie Meyer’s romantic horror/action tale about a 90-year-old vampire (who forever looks like a teen) named Edward Cullen who falls in love with 17-year-old Bella. And now MovieSet has launched its pagelet for Summit Entertainment’s upcoming movie adaptation.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown), Twilight stars Harry Potter cast member Robert Pattison as the pale-faced Edward and Kristen Stewart (Jumper, Panic Room) as Bella. As the days count down to the picture’s release on December 12, the mainstream interest in Twilight only grows. During last week’s Comic Con the cast and crew of Twilight made their appearance and gave a panel on what people could expect to see in the movie adaptation. To say that the response was huge could be an understatement; Twilight fans showed up en masse and turned the cavernous hall where the panel was held into a rock star-like chamber filled with screams of excitement.
To help you prepare for your entry into Twilight’s world of good and bad vampires, you can now watch the latest trailer, scan through all of the official stills released and peruse the cast and crew bios on MovieSet’s Twilight homepage.

Blood - A Butcher’s Tale
Wednesday, May 16, 2007
aHey Everybody,
We’re happy to announce that MovieSet has begun promoting a new film called Blood - A Butcher’s Tale. It’s an interesting story about a butcher that finds out his true love is being seduced by a vampire. As he investigates further, he realizes that his destiny is to become the destroyer of this bloodthirsty race. The film stars Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica), Jennifer Sciole (Descent), and Kim Coates (Silent Hill, Assault on Precinct 13).
Mark Tuit, who wrote and directed Blood, has been kind of enough to provide us (and you) with some amazing content, including some key art, set stills, and even the script! Being a horror movie fan, I love being able to access this type of content. It’s great for taking you behind the scenes of the movie.
Another cool aspect of this film is that it was mostly shot using green screen, similar to how 300 was filmed. There’s an article on the production of the film, which can be read here.
If you get a chance to check it out, let us know what you think by sending me an email.
